Five Stride Skate Shop Sales Associate - Portland
We have an immediate opening for a Sales Associate position in our Portland, OR retail shop. The position will vary between 12 and 18 hours (approximately 2-3 shifts) per week. We are an owner run and operated shop where all employees put in shared effort to keep the shop operating smoothly. Our retail store is not a single task environment. In order to complete all that needs to get done daily (with customer service being first priority), you will find yourself working on multiple tasks and assignments in a shift. Consistent weekend shifts (both Saturday and Sunday) are required.
Our ideal candidate has previous retail or service experience in a high volume, customer focused environment. They should be able to take initiative on their daily tasks and pivot between tasks as new things come up. They should have excellent people skills with the ability to listen, communicate, and relate to others on a personal level. The ideal candidate should be able to communicate with coworkers and their managers about their needs and what is going well/needs improvement in the shop. We expect this person to be reliable and punctual for their shifts. Experience or interest in roller skating is required and experience with hand tools and power tools is a plus! We are currently hiring for Saturday and Sunday shifts plus one weekday shift so weekend availability is required. Experience using Google Docs and Spreadsheets is must. We use Lightspeed point of sale software so experience with this interface is a plus. Ast part of the job duties this person needs to be able to lift 30 pounds and lift boxes overhead.
Starting pay is $18 per hour

Job Duties:
- Greet customers and help create a welcoming atmosphere
- Engage one on one with customers recommending products that are right for their needs
- Provide product education to customers including information on warranties, care, and maintenance of purchases
- Receive and process cash and credit card payments; process returns and exchanges; and complete a sales record at the end of each day
- Intake skate repairs and services
- Stay current with shop products and roller skating trends
- Arrange and display merchandise, keep merchandise back stock area tidy, and restock as necessary
- Keep store clean- sweep, mop, dust, clean windows, clean bathroom, etc
- Receive and unpack orders and price merchandise
- Ship customer orders and mail orders and assist customers with online orders
